RM of Monet’s story
The Rural Municipality of Monet No. 257 was incorporated as a rural municipality on December 13, 1909. It lies in the southwest part of Saskatchewan, and its office is in the town of Elrose, which the RM surrounds.
Besides Elrose, a number of small unincorporated communities fall within its boundaries: Chipperfield, Forgan, Greenan, Gunnworth, Hughton, Lille and Wartime. Saskatchewan's highways and the Canadian National Railway run through the area.
Visitors can see the Hughton Medicine Wheel, an archaeological site made up of a central cairn with walkways radiating out from it. The Elrose Brick School Museum and Elrose Regional Park are also within the RM.
